Portland Logo Design

A high-end business logo design is the backbone of every successful branding identity

Locating high-quality Portland logo design services is often the first step for any new (or rebranding) business.  Logo designs must provide businesses with a unique and truthful representation of their brand. Every business owner needs a design that can convey who they are in an interesting, catchy, and memorable way.

Below, we’ve compiled a few Portland logo designs that you can see around the city. Take a look at these designs to get a feel for what you are attracted to, and what catches your eye in terms of design and style. It’s extremely beneficial to logo designers when clients come to the table with their own ideas. We can then take those preferences and incorporate them into unique concepts for your business. We always want to capture your overall goals (for the target audience) and also make sure that the final product is something you will love. Businesses thrive on passion, so it’s imperative that the final design win over the audience while also being something the owner/team can genuinely stand behind.

Patagonia Logo Design (Repurposed)

Patagonia is a popular brand in Oregon. The actual Patagonia logo design consists of cool sunset colors with a mountain landscape underneath. This mountain landscape is a stylized version of Mount Fitz Roy on the Argentina/Chile border. Patagonia is an athletic and outdoor apparel company that considers itself to be an activist company because it donates 1% of all of its profits each year.

This spinoff of the classic Patagonia logo focuses 100% on Portland. It takes the mountain background and converts it into a skyline of the city of Portland. This is a fun way to preserve the brand’s overall logo look while paying homage to a city that continually embraces its culture. While this is likely just a personal project of a fan, it serves as an excellent example of how a logo can be repurposed (potentially used for an event or unique marketing campaign).

Portland Trail Blazers Logo Design

The Portland Trail Blazers are the NBA team for Portland, OR. Their logo is unique considering that the five red lines and five white lines are actually an abstract representation of players from each team playing on the basketball court. The lines are curved to symbolize the movement of the players and feature sharp edges (on the top & bottom) to convey the intensity that always exists within the sport.

The reason this logo works so well is that it’s extremely bold, simple, and recognizable. It also generates a one-of-a-kind link/association between the graphic icon and the word Trail Blazers.  The logo leverages these lines in a way that could very well depict a “blazed trail”. If one were to assume a bird’s eye view of the court, you may begin to envision the players’ consistent paths leaving their mark over time.  Add in the fact that leaders of thought tend to influence actions (of those who follow in their footsteps), and this is absolutely an iconic mark.

City of Portland Seal / Logo Design

The City of Portland seal / logo came into use in 1878. The seal includes the date 1851, however, because this is the date of the first charter. The woman who appears in the graphic is the Queen of Commerce. She is surrounded by fir trees, grains, fields, forests, and a huge body of water. This is all used to represent the natural environment that is essential for Oregon’s commerce and industry practices. There is also a wheel and hammer which signify the manufacturing tools of the city. The goal of the seal of Portland is to represent the city’s industrial history and strengths.

This is a quality city design because it really does represent Portland in a way that is easy to understand, yet engaging. The seal isn’t overly detailed (so the picture is easier to comprehend when compared to other cities). We especially like that the seal focuses on the natural world and the vital industries that exist within Portland’s infrastructure. As we have said in prior logo design posts, using seals as logo designs are always a good fit for cities, clubs, or organizations.
